Jack Goldstein's new black and white "skyscape" paintings incorporate near abstract images of clouds, jet streams and light bursts with an occasional small plane or indication of landscape to verify the factual basis of the painted representation. The images work in concert with the appearance of mechanical reproduction to enhance the cinematic effect of the presentation. The exhibition includes four 7' x 11' canvases and a group of smaller paintings that are framed behind glass.
Jack Goldstein's paintings were exhibited this summer in a one-person show at Centre d'Art Contemporain in Geneva and group exhibitions including "Westkunst" in Cologne and "Il Gergo Inquieto" in Genoa. His films were shown at a one-person screening at the Theatre le Palace in Paris. He is currently in group exhibitions at the Neuberger Museum ("Soundings"), California Institute of the Arts ("Exhibition: Tenth Anniversary") and Texas Gallery in Houston ("On Location").
An exhibition of photographs by Cindy Sherman will follow, 7–28 November.
